All Quiet on the Quar Front - Smurf Village

andyskinner over at Quar Invasion, reacted to my last All Quiet on the Quar Front post by showing off his own Quar buildings...

Which beyond being an awesome kitbash, somehow made me think of another village of organicaly shaped houses...

I'll probably take some flak for daring this comparison, but I can't stop thinking I'm on something here. Loose the mushrooms caps and replace them shingles, but keep the rounded out, nearly spherical walls!

What's in the box? Brigade Model

I just needed some more tanks from Brigade Models to round up my Organization of Unobtainium Exporting Planets (O.U.E.P.)... But, inspired by Mr Harold's awesome colony table, I coudn't help myself from adding their two new advanced buildings. 

Ordered on 02AUG and received on 22AUG: slightly on the slow side even for across-the-pond delivery...

Living Tomorrow: Shimao Wonderland Intercontinental Hotel

Currently under construction on the site of an abandonned quarry 50 clicks south of  Shanghai, this five star hotel is another nice addition to your near-future landscape...

It should count about 400 rooms spread on 17 "below the ground" floors; 2 above the ground floors will host conference rooms for up to 1000 people, a banquet hall, restaurants and cafes; 2 more floors resting under the surface of the 10 m deep artificial lake at the bottom of the quarry will host another restaurant, a swimming pool and sport facilities. The lobby will be in the "flying saucer" section hanging above the rim of the quarry, while the glass "waterfall" will hide a vertical atrium running from the bottom of the hotel up to the ground level. 

Living Tomorrow: Za Bor Architects Parasite Office

  

A contemporary (2011) yet very futuristic looking small office building by the Russain Za Bor Architects bureau (Arseniy Borisenko and Peter Zaytsev). Hanging between two other buildings blind walls in Moscow, it offers three floors (230m²/2500ft²) of modular office space (and a roof terrace) without hampering access to the courtyard through the alley.

What's in the box? Scotia Grendel Domes & Corridors

A quick review and some pictures of the range of domes and corridors sold by Scotia Grendel Productions. They're marketed as 28mm but we'll see that's definitely not the case!

A wide variety of dome are available, most of them bunkers with various weapons, I choose to stick with the unarmed one for want of a terrain to fight in and not of a fortification and fighting unit in its own right...

They have been sitting on my desk for quite a while and I've no clue anymore about what the shipping delay was like, but I remember no undue problems or concern with that order.

Prices are about £8 for a dome and £6 for 3 straight corridors or 2 Y-junctions.

The first impression when opening the box was olfactory: that resin just stinks... It's not that bad anymore after a few month of airing, and paint should seal the miasma in!
